Ella Bathsheba Stovall

1875 - 1923

Ella Bathsheba Stovall was the daughter of George Samuel Stovall and Sarah "Sally" Maddox Pyburn. She was married to James Robert "Bob" Williamson on July 23, 1891 in Winn Parish, LA.  Ella and Bob had two children before his death on December 30, 1894;

Elizabeth Belle "Lizzie Belle" Williamson born April 27 1892 in Stovall, LA.  Lizzie Belle married James Ruenben Robinson.

George Robert "Bobby" Williamson  born May 8, 1893 in Stovall, LA.  Bobby married first married Willie Mae Houston December 15, 1915 in Jackson Parish, LA.  They divorced in 1930 in Rapides Parish, LA.  He next married Norma Gladys Evans on January 6, 1932.

On December 12, 1895, Ella married Eli Eugene Chappell.  Ella and Eli had six children before his death November 1, 1904;

Willie Eli Chappell born March 11, 1897

Henry Morris "Maurice" Chappell  born September 21, 1898. Maurice married Velma Julia Hall on August 15, 1923.

Anna Zelma Chappell born April 17, 1900. Anna married William "Bill" Sian before 1922. The marriage ended in divorce. She next married Robert Cashman on September 1, 1935.

Jeter Brooks Chappell born January 12, 1902, married Maudie Barton before 1922.

Marshall Eugene Chappell born August 4, 1903, married Thula Tullos on April 26, 1923 in Jackson Parish, LA

Dennis Chappell born January 19, 1905, married Nellie Scott.

Ella next married Richard "Dink" Whitecotton about 1906. They had two children before Dink's death around 1910;

Ronald David Whitecotton born January 12, 1907, married Stella Peoples on June 2, 1930.

Farris Whitecotton born April 17 1908. Farris, a daughter died at the age 2, from burns on January 24, 1911.

Ella next married Henry Louis Godfrey about 1912.  They had one child;

Cynthia Corbie Godfrey born November 12, 1913, married Emeral T. Hastings on October 25, 1935. 

Ella died at the age of 48. Her headstone is inscribed simply with "Mother"  Ella Godfrey. Her youngest daughter, Cynthia was only 9 years old at the time of her death.  Ella is buried between her first 2 husbands at Transport Cemetery, James Robert Williamson and Elli Eugene Chappell.  "Little" Farris Whitecotton rests on the other side of Eli in the cemetery.  Ella owned land at the northeast corner of Transport Cemetery where she farmed and ran a boarding house.
