Mary Elizabeth Walker
Services for Mary Elizabeth Walker were held at 5 p.m. Saturday, September 4, 1999 in the First United Methodist Church in Winnfield, LA. Officiating was Rev. Barry Hoekstra. Burial was in the Transport Cemetery in Jonesboro, LA. Mrs. Walker, age 87 of Winnfield, LA died Thursday, September 2, 1999 in the Winn Parish Medical Center. She was a teacher.
Survivors include one daughter, Betty Walker of Boston, MA; two sons, Stewart A. Walker of New York, NY and William T. Walker and wife Shirley of Tallahasse, FL; one granddaughter, Angla Walker and one grandson, Brian Walker, both of Tallahassee, FL.
Memorials may be made to United Methodist Church of Winnfield.
Pallbearers were: Stewart Walker, Will Walker, Brian Walker, Perry Martin, Glen Kutz, Shawn Christian.
Note: Mary was the daughter of Perry Kees "P. K." Abel and Florence Whatley. Her Grandparents were John Morris Abel (CSA Vet) and Elizabeth Rebecca Smith. The Abels were a very noteable Winn Parish pioneer family that contributed a great deal to the history of the area, through their community and public service.
